I wasn’t feeling too hot this weekend.

So there was lots of resting, reading, and I even managed to clean my office.

Prepare yourself, the fact that the scariest office on the planet was cleaned means that the world will probably end.

I’m just sayin’.

Get ready for it.

Anyway, the weekend started out beautiful! It got up to 70 here on Saturday!

I enjoyed a blended chocolate protein latte on the deck:

Then I went out for a walk before yoga.

I got to try out my new BIC Band from Skinny Runner. I’m sold-LOVE this thing! Can’t wait to wear the other two I bought as part of SR’s special.

Sunday was a whole different ball game. It was cold and there were ice pellets falling from the sky.

I bundled up to go for a walk in the afternoon.

AKA I ran around the block, rushed into my house, and sat in front of the fireplace until I thawed out.

That was an awful idea.

So I decided to be a good wife and run to the grocery store.

Don’t worry-I didn’t really run.

But I did manage to look like a bum:

True story, those are flip flops.

Hear me out: the ground was wet and I didn’t want to get my other shoes wet.

Is that sane?

Don’t answer that.

The lady at the checkout told me I looked cute. She is obviously not sane.

So anyway. Winter is officially here. Want to know how I know?

Because this is how cold my bathroom is in the winter:

That’s after it warmed up two degrees. It took me that long to get my fingers to work so I could snap a picture.

Yep. Winter’s here.

Birthday Trifle

Good morning!

I know that the time for summery treats is over…

But as I look around at the frosty ground every morning, I can’t help but just hope for a few more days of warm sun on my face.

Don’t get me wrong, I love this weather and looking at the beautiful leaves.

But come on. Get real.

Who wouldn’t want to eat this?

Every year, I make my friend Amanda’s birthday “cake”. I say “cake” because she has yet to ask for an actual cake.

One year it was a chocolate Oreo ice cream cake. Last year it was key lime pie(s).

I swear I broke my wrists juicing those darned limes….

But it’s all worth it because I love Amanda.

And dessert.

This year I received her request early.

Like…4 months early.

That girl likes to plan ahead.

I call that smart.

She was even kind enough to give me a trifle bowl for Christmas last year so I could make this special birthday treat for her enjoy making trifles.

The official recipe for this beautiful dessert came from Tomayto Tomaaahto.

This little lovely thing is a Strawberry Lime Margarita Cheesecake Trifle.

Yeah baby.

Look at those layers.

While I did a rare thing and followed most of the recipe, I of course had to make a few adjustments.

I skipped the evaporated milk and instead used almond milk and powdered sugar and I also added some homemade vanilla.

Just because you can never have enough vanilla or sugar.

Am I right?

So what are you waiting for?

GO MAKE THIS before you forget what summery delicious things are supposed to taste like!

And happy birthday Amanda-love you!

WIAW Election Day!

Thank you SO much to everyone who did your civic duty yesterday and went to the polls!

Yesterday was an exciting day for a poli sci junkie for myself-I just love the excitement of elections and watching the results come in. Serious nerd alert.

But I’m cool with it.

For those of you who are sick of phone calls and ads, you’re pretty happy today too.

I was going to demonstrate all of my awesome food for the day until my phone camera decided to stop working after my beautiful breakfast:

One egg with two egg whites on Ezekiel with strawberries and an iced Americano.

Sorry about the lack of pictures…stupid phone.

Snack was my normal apples and almonds.

Lunch was some turkey chili. YEEEEEES.

Dinner was every random thing I could pull out of my pantry and stuff in my face while watching two computers and the television pull up election coverage…

So that was healthy…

Speaking of healthy…you should come back tomorrow to check out some of this delicious action…
